Well, How Did I Get Here?

Woman working on laptop

I’ve been a web designer and strategist for the past 4 years. Before that, I was a visual merchandiser for various boutiques in Austin and then for a corporate retailer.

I think of visual merchandising as an analog version of user experience – I’ve found so many parallels between creating an ideal store environment and creating your ideal online space. On paper, my career change might look a bit odd, but it works!

After my son was born, I took a long hard look at my career path and realized It wasn’t enough for me. I leapt off the proverbial cliff and went back to a college hobby – web design. I (barely) sustained for a year on the occasional freelance project before I was recruited to the in-house design team I worked with for the last 4 years.

Why am I telling you this?

Not so long ago, I was an overwhelmed new mom trying to make a change in the midst of diapers, daycare, and an 8-5 desk job that just wasn’t cutting it. It took me almost 2 years to even begin to find my footing, and frankly I’m still finding it. 🤷🏻‍♀️
