My Infertility Story

As they say in Monty Python’s Flying Circus: “And now for something completely different!

I couldn’t let #nationalinfertilityawarenessweek go by without sharing a little bit of our story.

I have a rare birth defect where IVF is the only option for us, and we were very, very lucky to conceive on our first IVF/ET. However, in the past 4 years we’ve endured 3 more unsuccessful tries, including a miscarriage, and another IVF round which we were in the middle of when this photo was taken.

Infertility is a long, shitty, expensive road, and it doesn’t end when you have a child. It lurks in the background of your daily life, resurfacing at inconvenient moments when well-meaning strangers ask “do you just have the one?”.

I don’t think I’ve thrown in the towel, yet. And neither choice (to try again, or give up) is the easy one.

Alright, that’s it. I’ll go back to husband quotes and design stuff tomorrow.
